KN (AB „Klaipedos nafta“), the operator of LNG and oil terminals, announces capacity allocation at Klaipeda LNG terminal and invites market participants to book capacities for the period from October 1st to December 31st, 2022. A total of 9,66 TWh available LNG capacities will be allocated during the procedure.
In order to ensure that the services of the terminal can be used by as many customers as possible, the capacity of the LNG terminal will be allocated in accordance with the Regulations for use of the Liquefied Natural Gas Terminal, which have been discussed with the market and approved by the Regulator. These regulations provide that a single terminal user may not book more than half of the terminal's allocated capacity. In the event that the supply of terminal capacity exceeds the demand, the capacity shall be allocated on a pro rata basis, with preference given to the companies, which have used the services of the LNG terminal in the last three years and are therefore familiar with the operating principles of the LNG terminal.
Later this year, KN plans to offer the market the possibility to book long-term capacity at the LNG terminal, which will be available from 1 January 2023 for a period of five or ten years. The relevant amendments to the Regulations for the Use of the LNG Terminal have been submitted for market consultation.
"One of the technical changes we will follow next year will align the so-called gas year with the calendar year. That is why we are currently initiating capacity allocation for a relatively short period of three months. Already in June, we will invite customers to assess the long-term capacity needs of the LNG terminal, for which we are currently making the final preparations", says Jurgita Šilinskaite-Vensloviene, Head of KN LNG Commerce.
The amount of the LNG terminal capacity to be allocated in this capacity allocation procedure amounts to 9,66 TWh (determined under the following reference conditions: combustion/measurement temperature of 25/0 °C, pressure of 1,01325 bar, a relative expansion coefficient of 1:578, and a natural gas calorific value of 11,45 kWh/Nm3). Applications for LNG terminal capacity shall be submitted to the KN until 17 May 2022 at 4:30 P.M.
Joint annual and monthly schedules of LNG cargoes delivered to the terminal are published and updated on KN website according to the actual situation.
For the gas year, lasting from 1 October 2021 to 30 September 2022, customers have booked a total of 23.9 TWh of Klaipeda LNG terminal capacity.
