The FPSO Almirante Barroso platform ship left the Cosco shipyard in China, which marks the beginning of its journey towards to Brazil. The platform will carry out navigation tests for five days in Chinese waters, then make stops in Singapore and Mauritius, where it will supply and change the crew, until its arrival in Brazil at the BrasFELs shipyard, in Angra dos Reis (RJ) , in October, when the final stage of commissioning and acceptance tests is scheduled.

The FPSO (acronym in English for floating production, storage and transfer unit) Almirante Barroso, chartered by Petrobras from the company Modec, is scheduled to start production in 2023, with the capacity to produce up to 150 thousand barrels of oil daily and process 6 million of m³ of gas. The platform also has a water injection capacity of 220,000 barrels of water per day in the Búzios field.

The FPSO Almirante Barroso will be connected to 10 wells and will be the 5th platform that will be part of the Búzios Field, which today produces around 575 thousand barrels of oil and 23 million m³ daily, contributing to the Búzios field reaching the mark of 33% of Petrobras' oil production in 2026.
