YPF Luz, the Japanese auto parts company Toyota Boshoku Argentina and the Japanese textile company Sewtech Argentina, signed a 5-year agreement to supply 80% of their demand with renewable energy, equivalent to 4,600 MWh/year and the consumption of 1,270 homes. With the contracted energy, Toyota Boshoku and Sewtech will generate CO2 savings of 1,400 tons.
Present at the signing of the agreement were Jorge Ravlich, manager of the Electricity Business of YPF Luz; Mariana Iribarne, Manager of Institutional Relations of YPF Luz; Isao Kanazawa, president of Toyota Boshoku Argentina and Daniel Miravalle, president of Sewtech Argentina.
“ Toyota Boshoku Argentina has found in YPF Luz a fundamental ally in its goal of achieving a neutral impact in terms of carbon footprint. Our next step is to reach this type of agreement with our supplier chain”, highlighted Pablo Racciatti, General Manager of Totoya Boshoku Argentina.
“For Sewtech Argentina, the signing of this agreement is a fundamental milestone for the achievement of our goal of achieving Carbon Neutral status in our operation. The use of green energy will, in turn, allow the electrification of other activities, further reducing the carbon footprint” , said Daniel Miravalle, president of Sewtech Argentina.

YPF Luz will provide energy from the Zonda Solar Park, the company's first solar park, which is expected to open in early 2023. The Zonda will be located in the department of Iglesia, province of San Juan, and will have an installed capacity of 100MW in its first stage. The energy that Toyota Boshoku and Sewtech will use is equivalent to 1.5 MW of installed power.
In 2015, Toyota took on the challenge of achieving carbon neutrality before 2050 in the entire life cycle of its products, which is why the zero emissions approach also includes its entire value chain. The strategy that is supported by the company's Environmental Challenge aims to make all its production plants carbon neutral by 2035.
YPF Luz and Toyota Argentina began their commercial relationship in 2018, with a 10-year agreement for the provision of 100% renewable energy for the automaker's plant in Zárate. YPF Luz supplies energy from the Manantiales Behr Wind Farm, with a capacity of 100 MW, located in Chubut, and the Los Teros Wind Farm, with a capacity of 175 MW, located in the town of Azul. The energy used by Toyota is equivalent to 15.9 MW of installed power, equivalent to the consumption of 21,111 homes.
