Anbaric Development Partners, one of the nation’s leading independent developers of electric transmission, released a Notice of Solicitation for suppliers of renewable energy produced from offshore wind sources in the New York Bight wishing to deliver energy and renewable energy credits into the New York State Bulk Power System via the Juno Power Express, a transmission facility.

Through the Solicitation, Anbaric seeks offshore wind developers who have executed a lease with the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) to collaborate with Anbaric to supply offshore wind-generated electricity to shore. Anbaric will join forces with offshore wind lease holders to submit one or more responses to the New York State Energy & Research Development Authority’s (NYSERDA) pending request for proposals (RFP) expected to be awarded in early 2023.

“Anbaric’s Juno Power Express offers New York Bight offshore wind developers a significant head-start on interconnection and transmission for up to 1200 MW of interconnection capacity,” said Janice Fuller, President of Anbaric, Mid-Atlantic. “The Juno site’s proximity to the existing LIPA Ruland Road 138 kV Substation and location within the Route 110 Corridor offers an optimal and well-thought-out solution to efficiently deliver locally sourced offshore wind power to Long Island homes and businesses.”

About the Juno Power Express Location

Juno Power Express includes a 17.7 mile, fully engineered route from the Long Island coastline to property under control of Anbaric that is well suited for the construction of a converter station which will provide up to 1200 MW of firm delivery capacity via a High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) system.

An Article VII application for this Juno Power Express was filed in September 2022, a significant step in the permitting process will ensure the transmission project is prepared to connect new offshore wind generation to the regional grid and quickly continue to scale offshore wind to meet New York’s decarbonization goals.

This solicitation provides an expedited response time: responses are required to be received by Anbaric before October 5, 2022, at 5:00 pm (EST) to jfuller@anbaric.com. For further information on the Juno Power Express and the Solicitation can be found at https://anbaric.com/juno-power-express/.
