Floatel Superior Helideck Operations and Emergency Preparedness

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has carried out an audit of the management of helideck operations and the follow-up of emergency preparedness on Floatel Superior. The audit was conducted from 16 to 21 September 2022. The Civil Aviation Authority Norway participated in the helideck audit.

Objective
The objective of the audit was to ensure that the responsible parties are working systematically to reduce the risk associated with helicopter operations at Floatel International’s offshore facilities. In addition, we wanted to verify the management of helideck operations on board Floatel Superior. In the audit, we also verified that orders made and non-conformities identified in relation to emergency preparedness had been addressed in accordance with received feedback.

Result
No non-conformities or improvement points relating to emergency preparedness were identified during this audit.

The Civil Aviation Authority Norway, our auxiliary agency for the audit of helicopter operations, identified non-conformities.

What happens next?
We have asked Floatel International to report back to us on how they intend to address the non-conformities. The reply deadline is set at 11 November 2022.
