Stolthaven Terminals Houston recently organised a volunteer day, in partnership with the Houston Ship Channel TREES Program, to regenerate an area of land along the Houston Ship Channel.
The day was not only in support of HSC TREES, but also Stolthaven Terminals' global sustainability commitment to protecting its people and the communities in which it operates.
The event received great support from Houston employees who worked hard to plant more than 1,500 trees in a single day.
The Houston Ship Channel TREES Program is a collaborative project focused on enhancing the ecosystem along 25 miles of the Houston Ship Channel through large-scale tree plantings.
The emphasis is on reintroducing native species which are ranked in order of priority based on their respective levels of air pollution absorption (including CO2and greenhouse gases) as well as water absorption and erosion control.
