In line with its purpose of acting to accelerate the transition towards a carbon-neutral economy, ENGIE Energía Chile SA today sent an Essential Fact to the Commission for the Financial Market (CMF), in which it communicates the investment of approximately US$ 650 million to continue developing renewable energy in the country.

In particular, these are two announcements. The first corresponds to a contract with companies of the Goldwind group for the supply and acquisition of the wind turbines necessary for the construction of the Lomas de Taltal Wind Farm, located in the Taltal commune, Antofagasta region. This project will have a total capacity of up to 342 MW and will consist of 57 wind turbines with an individual capacity of 6 MW.

The renewable energy that this initiative will inject into the National Electric System (SEN) will be through a transmission line of approximately 20 kilometers, which will be interconnected at the Parinas Substation.

The budget of the Lomas de Taltal Wind Farm considers the execution of its main contracts, such as the supply of main equipment, operation and maintenance of the wind turbines, the execution of engineering and civil works, the construction and commissioning of the transmission line, construction and operation of the camp and installation of slaughter, and the electrical connection of its main equipment. In total, the budget amounts to an approximate total amount of US$ 450,000,000.

The second announcement is about the commercial agreement reached with Sungrow Power Supply for the supply and acquisition of a battery energy storage system (Battery Energy Storage System or “BESS) for the BESS Coya project.

This initiative will have a storage capacity of 638 MWh and will be built associated with the PV Coya Solar Plant -also owned by ENGIE Chile-, located in the María Elena commune, Antofagasta region.

The BESS COYA budget considered for the supply of the main equipment of the project together with the execution of the civil works of the project and installation, assembly and electrical connection of its main equipment; amounts to a total amount of approximately US$ 200,000,000.
