In September ENGIE Energía Chile SA reported its intention to acquire the San Pedro Wind Farm located in the province of Chiloé, Los Lagos region. Finally, last Friday it announced that the process was finished and that it was officially added to its renewable energy portfolio.
The San Pedro I and II Wind Farms -located on 1,112 hectares- are currently in operation through 31 wind turbines with an installed capacity of 101 MW; and they have a project under development that has an installed capacity of up to approximately 151 MW.
With this new acquisition, the French company incorporates for the first time a wind power plant in the south of the country and reinforces the diversification of renewable energy sources, which allows it to continue supplying green energy to the National Electric System.
“This news marks a precedent for the history of ENGIE in Chile. We opened a new path as a company expanding to the south of the country. The generation of clean, safe and reliable energy; allows us to work hand in hand with respect for the environment”, said Rosaline Corinthien, CEO of ENGIE Chile.
This milestone occurs after the approval of the transaction by the National Economic Prosecutor's Office (FNE) and was communicated by the company through an Essential Fact sent to the Financial Market Commission (CMF).
