The Elecnor Group, in a consortium with GE Renewable Energy, has started the construction of the first stage of Goyder South wind farm, in Australia, which will have 75 turbines capable of producing up to 412 Megawatts (MW) of power. This new plant, developed and owned by Neoen, the leading french independent producer of exclusively renewable energy, is located 100 kilometres from Adelaide, in South Australia.

Goyder South Stage I Wind Farm is part of Neoen’s most significant project, known as Goyder Renewables Zone. This plant will be the first asset to be built under this ambitious plan which includes the potential for future development of other wind and solar and energy storage facilities. Overall, Goyder Renewables Zone has been approved to host 1,200 MW of wind power, 600 MW of solar power and 900 MW of battery storage capacity, making it the largest renewable energy project in this state.

The project will be connected to the Robertstown substation, which means it will be necessary to build an electrical infrastructure of 33 kV, including the networks and communications for both the substation and the high-voltage overhead power line. Goyder South Stage I will create over 400 jobs during its construction and 12 permanent, full-time posts for its operation.

As the owner and long-term operator, Neoen is committed to sharing benefits with the regional communities. The project includes an annual Community Benefit Fund for local community construction and sustainability initiatives, an extensive benefit plan for residents, and benefit-sharing with the Ngadjuri, the traditional owners of the land on which the wind farm is located.
