The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) will host its fourth Gulf of Mexico Intergovernmental Renewable Energy Task Force meeting on April 11, 2023, at 9 a.m. (CST).
The purpose of the meeting is to update task force members on offshore wind energy planning activities and to discuss next steps in the BOEM leasing process, including the recently announced proposal for the first-ever offshore wind lease sale in the Gulf of Mexico.
Established in 2021, this task force is composed of federal, state, local and Tribal government officials. It is tasked with coordinating renewable energy planning activities on the Outer Continental Shelf in the Gulf of Mexico. It serves as a forum to discuss potential issues and concerns, exchange data and information about ocean resources and uses, and facilitate collaborative opportunities.
The public is encouraged to attend this meeting and will be afforded an opportunity to provide input. The meeting will take place virtually via Zoom. Additional information about this task force is available on BOEM's Gulf of Mexico Task Force web page.
