6 foreign companies to invest over $333m in exploration blocks

TEHRAN (PIN) – Foreign companies will have to invest 333 million dollars in projects to be carried out in six oil and gas exploration blocks in Iran.

Foreign companies announced as contractor for exploring the said six blocks are committed to carry out two-dimensional seismography over 6,281 sq. km. and to do 3-D seismography over 947 sq. km.

Total area to be covered by the contracts for six exploration blocks will amount to 23,109 sq. km. and their contractors are committed to drill 19 exploration and appraisal wells.

Norway’s Norsk Hydro, China’s Sinopec, Italy’s Edison Gaz, Austria’s OMV, an Indian consortium, and Brazil’s Petrobras have undertaken exploration projects in Anaran oil block in west Iran, Zavareh – Kashan block, Monir block, Mehr block, Farsi block and Tosan block, respectively.

Exploration contracts for Iran Mehr and Forouz blocks was signed between the National Iranian Oil Company and Spain’s Repsol on October 14 as the seventh exploration contract for newly discovered blocks.
