In the evening of June 7, 2023, CMIT sucessfully achieved a new productivity record of ourselves while handling the M/v Maersk Emden in the TP6/Pearl service of the 2M Alliance, which connects Vietnam with the US West Coast.

Within a span of just 20 hours, CMIT efficiently and safely handled nearly 7,000 TEUs of import, export, transshipment and empty containers, setting a new productivity record of 233 containers/hour. This outstanding performance enabled the M/v Maersk Emden to depart three hours ahead of schedule, facilitating the Vietnam - US Trade to be connected in the fastest possible way.

Port productivity of 233 containers/hour is typically achieved when using 7-8 large-sized STS cranes for mother vessels at major transshipment hubs worldwide. However, CMIT accomplished this impressive productivity record by deploying only 6 STS cranes with the average crane productivity over 42 containers/hour. This achievement continues to elevate the position of the Cai Mep deep-water port cluster and Vietnam's seaport industry on the global sea port map.

Recently on the Container Port Performence Index (CPPI) for 348 global container ports by the World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence, Cai Mep holds the 12th position which is even higher than some major seaports in the region and the world such as Shekou, China (13th place); Yokohama, Japan (15th place); Singapore (18th place) and Busan, South Korea (22nd place), etc. 2022 is the second consecutive year that Cai Mep maintains a high ranking on this prestigious assessment, in which terminal productivity is an important factor. CMIT's pioneering efforts in accommodating the world’s largest vessels over the years, along with its outstanding productivity, significantly contributed to the Cai Mep’s overall achievement.

Former President Ho Chi Minh's call for patriotic competition has still resonated for the past 75 years: "...Therefore, the duty of the Vietnamese people, regardless of their profession – intellectuals, farmers, workers, traders, or soldiers – is to strive. Make it fast. Make it well. Make it more...". This record demonstrates the efforts of each CMIT’s employee, which have been carried on and promoted over the last 12 years of operation. It is a proud achievement for Mr. Nguyen Xuan Ky, General Director of CMIT, who is one of five outstanding representatives of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province to share at the Conference to be held by the Ministry of Home Affair to praise and honor outstanding individuals nationwide on Jun 11, 2023.
