Tris ranked EGAT the highest rating of “AAA” in 2023, reflecting the strength of the organization and building trust for bond investors.
Mrs. Patcharin Rapeepornpong, Deputy Governor – Finance and Accounting (CFO) of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) revealed that Tris Rating Co., Ltd. announced the revision of EGAT’s credit rating in 2023 to be maintained at the highest rating of “AAA.” As for the tendency of the rating, it is at “Stable.” This evaluation reflects the importance of EGAT as a state enterprise with the responsibility of supplying electrical energy for the country, a largest electricity generator in the country, and the sole owner of the transmission system nationwide. EGAT has a strong financial position with a full support from the Thai government, as well as building trust in EGAT’s Counterparty Credit Risk.
The credit rating of an organization is a risk indicator which investors use as a factor to decide whether to invest in EGAT bonds. It also shows the ability to repay debts as well as the financial security of the organization amid the changing energy business and fluctuating fuel price situation.
