The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has carried out an audit of Aker BP and their planning and execution of preparations for permanent plugging of Hod A. The audit was conducted on 11 and 12 May 2023.
Objective
The objective of the audit was to monitor how Aker BP is ensuring compliance with the regulatory requirements for the temporarily plugged and abandoned wells at Hod A. The audit was carried out in parallel with the planning and execution of well intervention activities, in preparation for permanent plugging.
Result
We identified three non-conformities during the audit. These concerned:
Well barriers in some of the temporarily plugged and abandoned wells
Qualification of alternative well barrier materials
Registration and follow-up of well-integrity non-conformities
What happens next?
We have asked Aker BP to report to us by 25 August 2023 on how the non-conformities will be addressed.
