The increase in energy recharged in the first half of the year, compared to the same period in 2022, is 18.5%

Electric mobility is one of EDP’s commitments, which continues to expand its network of electric recharging points infrastructure in different parts of Spain, demonstrating its firm commitment to continue increasing this network. In addition, the energy company, world leader in renewable energies, sees it as one of the main tools to help mitigate damage to the environment and reduce the effects of climate change on the planet.

In the first half of 2023, EDP has registered almost 51,000 electric vehicle recharges. Between all EDP charging points, more than 1,200 operational charging points, including both public access spaces and private charging points, managed by EDP through the Move on platform, more than 750,000 kWh of energy have been recharged. This is 18.5% more than in the same period in 2022 and is equivalent to driving 5,002,709 km, i.e. the longest distance by car in the world, 14,043 km between Sagres (Portugal) and Khasan (Russia), 356 times.

In addition, we would avoid the emission of 493 tons of CO2.At EDP's vehicle recharging points in public access areas, drivers have made 76% of the recharges and recharged 70% of the energy, while in private use points, installed and managed by EDP, the energy recharged has been 30%. The most used public access recharging point is in Gijón, although the point with the highest amount of energy recharged is in Madrid. As for the months, May is the one with the highest amount of recharged energy.

EDP has almost 2,500 recharging points contracted in Spain. To set up these points, the energy company has reached agreements with different entities, such as city councils or service stations, with the aim of promoting electric mobility. It has also established alliances with private companies such as Decathlon, a chain of sports equipment stores with more than 400 charging points in Spain, or with Ahorramas, a chain of local supermarkets, for the installation of a total of 450 recharging points located in the company's parking lots and offices.

EDP’s charging points are managed through the Move on platform, an innovative application that allows the management of the use of charging facilities quickly and easily.

Sustainable mobility is key for EDP, which has the ambition to exceed 4,000 public charging points in Spain by the end of 2025. This is one of the areas that will have the greatest impact on the energy sector and will be essential for the decarbonization of transport. Aboño
