EGAT has joined hands with three leading Japanese companies to embark on the “Study and Development Project on Clean Hydrogen and Ammonia Production from Renewable Energy” funded by METI, aiming to develop knowledge and new technologies, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance the energy security for Thais.
Mr. Nitus Voraphonpiput, Deputy Governor – Fuel of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), revealed that EGAT has been funded by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan, for the “Study and Development Project on Clean Hydrogen and Ammonia Production from Renewable Energy,” under the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with three leading Japanses companies which are Mitsubishi Company (Thailand) Ltd., Chiyoda Corporation, and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (Thailand) Co., Ltd., to apply knowledge and advanced technologies of Japan for improving and solving issues related to infrastructure abroad. The project aims to carry out the feasibility study on hydrogen and ammonia production in all dimensions from engineering; eco-friendly fuel production from renewable energy; social, environmental, and economic aspects; storage; transportation; to business opportunities throughout the supply chain in several EGAT’s potential areas with existing infrastructures. This funding would support EGAT to develop knowledge and new technologies, enable the country’s energy security, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with the goal of EGAT Carbon Neutrality.
