Volker Pohlmann (57) will become Managing Director of Ziel Terminal GmbH as of 15 October. The joint venture founded by Samskip, Duisburger Hafen AG and TX Logistik AG operates the combined transport terminal at logport III in Duisburg-Hohenbudberg. The European Commission has already approved the joint venture, thus opening the way for the appointment of the Managing Director by the three shareholders.
Volker Pohlmann brings many years of experience in logistics to his new role. Before his appointment as Managing Director of Ziel Terminal GmbH, he worked for neska Schiffahrts- und Speditionskontor GmbH in Cologne and Düsseldorf as Branch Manager. His tasks at the company, which specialises in the trimodal handling of industrial and commercial goods, included business development and process optimisation. The business economist, who specialises in logistics, intends to use his extensive knowledge and expertise at Ziel Terminal GmbH in the future. Pohlmann’s professional career has also included posts with BLG International Forwarding GmbH & Co. KG and other transport companies focusing on international land transport.
With the appointment of a Managing Director, the three shareholders consider the joint venture to be strengthened, well-positioned in terms of personnel and equipped for sustainable growth. Samskip holds a 49.8 percent share in the joint venture; duisport and Mercitalia Group subsidiary TX Logistik AG each hold 25.1 percent of the shares.
The 140,000-square-meter terminal facility in Duisburg-Hohenbudberg has seven transshipment tracks, each 720 meters long, two shunting tracks and two high-performance gantry cranes for transshipment between road and rail. The annual handling capacity is up to 250,000 loading units.
