The ceremony for the launch of a small-scale natural gas liquefaction complex (NGLC) located in the Volgograd Region was held at
the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum 2023.
Taking part in the event were Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Andrey Bocharov, Governor of the Volgograd Region, and Lyubov Brish, Director General of Gazprom Helium Service.
The NGLC in the Volgograd Region is the first liquefied natural gas production facility in the Southern Federal District. The complex, which is situated in the Bykovsky District, has a production capacity of 1.5 tons of LNG per hour (or 12,600 tons per year).
The first consumers of the products supplied by the complex will be passenger buses of Volgograd. By now, the region has purchased 60 buses of Russian make powered by liquefied natural gas.
The vehicles will receive LNG refueling services at the passenger bus depot. The products of the NGLC will be delivered in special cryogenic tanks by LNG fright trucks of Gazprom Helium Service.
“Gazprom pays great attention to the expansion of liquefied natural gas production in Russia. In 2022, our LNG plant was put into operation on the coast of the Baltic Sea. In September this year, we launched the small-scale LNG complex in the Amur Region. New LNG capacities mean flexibility of natural gas supplies, diversification of the sales markets, and a source of clean energy for transport. And we continue our work in this direction,” said Alexey Miller.
