RenewableUK has announced the results of this year’s Shadow Board election in which 11 new representatives have been selected to serve from 2024 into 2025.

The Shadow Board is made up of rising stars in the clean energy sector, to provide a greater range of views on key issues to the organisation’s main Board.

The appointees were carefully selected to ensure gender balance as well as full representation from nations and regions across the UK, onshore wind and offshore wind technologies, as well as supply chain companies and developers.

After nearly 100 submissions, the current Shadow Board whittled the initial applicants down to 30, then a smaller internal working group sifted this down to a further 15, and our Executive Leadership Team decided on the final 11 successful candidates:

- Aamir Shahzad, Global Head of Electrical Operations at Vestas.
- Anne-Charlotte Gaillard, Project Manager Offshore Developments at SSE Renewables.
- Arfon Edwards, Onshore Wind Developer, RWE Renewables UK
- Chris Fox, Head of Policy - UK Renewables, Equinor
- Emma Waterhouse, Legal Counsel, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy
- Hassan Asheg, Business Development Director, Royal HaskoningDHV
- Jay Medina, Commercial Manager, Associated British Ports
- Lynne McIntosh-Grieve, Programme Manager, Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult / OWGP
- Nicola Harris, Associate Director- Environmental Services, Seiche Ltd
- Victoria Sinclair, Head of Supply Chain Development Copenhagen Offshore Partners (Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners)
- William Maidment, Regulatory Engagement Manager, Ventient Energy

RenewableUK’s Commercial Director Vicky Mant welcomed the results, saying:
“We are delighted to announce our new cohort of Shadow Board members, bringing a diverse mix of professional experience, fresh ideas and talent from innovative companies across the sector. I’d like to thank outgoing Shadow Board team for all their hard work over the last year as we welcome the new team carrying on the baton into 2024.

Úna Brosnan, Vice Chair and Board Champion to the Shadow Board said:
A huge congratulation to all elected for the next cohort of Shadow Board members. In the midst of COP28 discussions with the UK as a global leader in renewables, our new Shadow Board will be key in continuing to support RenewableUK’s drive to address the challenges and scaling up our industry. I very much look forward to supporting the newly elected Shadow Board in continuing to drive change, helping us to make progress on some of the challenges we face, putting forward new ideas and implementing RenewableUK’s strategy for 2024 alongside the Board.

To the outgoing Shadow Board, I would like to sincerely thank you all for your unwavering support and dedication to the Board and RenewableUK’s team. You have truly made a huge impact on our industry over your tenure, and above all your collective dedication and enthusiasm has been nothing short of inspirational. It gives our industry great comfort that we have a strong backbone of emerging leaders amongst us. A huge thank you also to Kerry Hayes (Chair) and Alex Fowler (Vice Chair) for leading the charge for the Shadow Boards Tenure and bringing not only diversity in thinking, approaches and challenging our Board, but also for raising the profile of all leaders and skillsets within the group to truly support the industry at both National and Regional levels.”

Kerry Hayes, outgoing Chair of RenewableUK Shadow Board said:
“Shortlisting for the next cohort of Shadow Board members was a difficult task and we were overwhelmed by the quality of applicants for this year. We could have easily selected a Shadow Board three or four times greater in number, thanks to the outstanding quality of applicants! I would like to pass on my congratulations to the new cohort who are embarking on a fantastic opportunity, one which my colleagues and I are sad to be leaving behind! Best of luck to the new Shadow Board.”
