Gas production carried out by ConocoPhillips Indonesia Ltd. in Indonesia's North Belut gas field located in Block B South Natuna Sea has commenced.
It is expected to produce more than 200 million cubic feet (5.66 million cubic meters) of gas per day starting next year, the firm's statement distributed to the media said.
Gas and its derivative products produced in the gas field would be exported to Malaysia, to comply with a long term gas supply deal to Indonesia's neighboring country.
ConocoPhillips Indonesia acts as the operator of the gas field located 1,180 kilometers north of Jakarta.
It controls 40 percent of the gas field's shares with remaining shares are controlled by INPEX Natuna Ltd. and Chevron South Natuna B at 35 and 25 percent respectively.
The North Belut gas field would also supply the domestic need on Liquified Natural Gas (LNG), the Detik.com reported.
