ORIX Corporation (“ORIX”) announced that its Group company, Elawan Energy S.L. (“Elawan”) will supply renewable energy to Amazon under the corporate PPA (Power Purchase Agreement).
Elawan develops and operates wind and solar power plants in 15 countries worldwide, focusing on Europe and North and South America. It currently has 1.8 gigawatts of projects in operation and around 8 gigawatts of projects under development. The company has significant strength in identifying opportunities early, leveraging capabilities in development, design, procurement, structuring, and execution to unlock value and deliver enhanced returns.
Elawan will start providing Amazon with around 160 megawatts of power generated by two wind power generation facilities and four solar power plants currently under development in Spain, along with environmental attributes, starting in 2024 and 2025. Elawan and Amazon have previously signed a corporate PPA for five solar power generation plants that began operating in 2023 for a cumulative total of around 180 megawatts.
As part of its target to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, ORIX will continue to expand its renewable energy business globally using the experience and expertise it has developed over the years it has operated in this business, helping to realize a more sustainable world.
