Terna is investing about 16 million euros to modernise three existing electricity connections; more than 60 km of power lines between Bologna and Ferrara will be demolished
Terna has launched works to upgrade the power grid between Colunga and Ferrara in Emilia-Romagna. The national power grid operator led by Giuseppina Di Foggia will invest approximately 16 million euros in the modernisation of the grid between Colunga and Ferrara, ensuring greater efficiency and quality of service for local businesses and citizens.
The works plan will involve the municipalities of Castenaso, Budrio, Minerbio, Baricella, Malalbergo, Poggio Renatico, and Ferrara. Upgrades will made to the following 132 kV links: Colunga-Altedo”, “Altedo Ferrara Sud” and “Ferrara Sud-Centro Energia der. Aranova”, with the construction of approximately 20 km of power lines and the demolition of more than 60 km of lines in the provinces of Bologna and Ferrara.
The launch of the new works follows the completion of the executive design phase and will last approximately 24 months. Pylons no longer needed will only be demolished later when the new lines have been activated, thus ensuring the continuity of the electricity transmission service.
This project is the result of cooperation between Terna and local and regional administrations and is linked to a future scheme to reorganise the power grid in the city of Ferrara. The project, which is currently in the consultation phase, will allow for the improved use of the area's production resources.
