Baytex Energy Corp. is a dividend-paying conventional oil and gas corporation based in Calgary, Alberta. Baytex Energy Corp. is engaged in the acquisition, development and production of oil & natural gas in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin and has an emerging presence in the United States. Baytex is committed to maintaining its production and asset base through internal property development and delivering consistent returns to its shareholders.
The crude oil & natural gas operations are organized into 3 business units: Alberta/B.C. (including the Peace River oil sands area and the conventional light oil and natural gas properties), Saskatchewan (the Lloydminster area heavy oil operations) and the United States (the Bakken-Three Forks play in North Dakota). Baytex produces the heavy oil from vertical, slant and horizontal wells using progressive cavity pumps capable of handling large volumes of heavy oil combined with gas, water and sand. Initial production from these wells usually averages between 40 and 500 bbl/d of crude with gravities ranging from 11 to 18 degrees API.
