Toolebuc Formation

Location  Extends from Queensland across South Australia and the Northern Territory
Thickness  20 to 45 m
Formation Details  The Toolebuc Formation, which is a geological formation, is enriched by two orders of magnitude in heavy metals compared with average shale and limestone. The Toolebuc Formation has attracted exploration interest, with some promising results from early exploration reports. The Upper Albian Toolebuc Formation is a thin, laterally persistent chalk, which occurs within a thick section of fine-grained elastics in the Eromanga Basin, Queensland.
Notes  The Toolebuc Formation is a condensed section formed during a relative rise in sea level. The depositional environment was a shallow sea (50-200 m deep) with a lush growth of pianktic algae in the photic zone.
