Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Mr. Hayan Abdul Ghani, visited Al-Ahdab oil field in Wasit Governorate, and was briefed on the progress of the ongoing work in the field. The visit included an inspection of the central station and the gas isolation station and a meeting with officials and workers.
Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, Mr. Hayan Abdul Ghani, stressed the importance of the field in supporting the energy sector by providing 20 million standard cubic feet per day, in addition to large quantities of liquid gas, sulfur, and crude oil in the amount of 50 thousand barrels per day.
For his part, the Director General of the Central Oil Company, Mr. Muhammad Yassin Hassan, gave a briefing on the company’s plans to sustain and increase oil and gas production, stressing the importance of the Minister’s visit to the oil fields and reviewing the progress of the ongoing work, and identifying the needs of the company and the governorate, indicating that the Minister supports plans to advance projects. Central Oil Company, and that the company is on track to develop a number of exploratory fields and sites within the complementary final licensing round.
The Minister was accompanied on his inspection tour by the Governor of Wasit, Mr. Muhammad Jamil Al-Mayahi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Extraction Affairs, Mr. Bassem Muhammad Khudair, the Undersecretary for Distribution Affairs, Mr. Ali Maaraj, and a number of officials in oil companies, directors of the ministry’s center departments, and members of the government and local departments in the governorate.
