In recognition of Hydrogen Week (October 7–11), the U.S. Department of Energy's Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office (HFTO) will host a special webinar on October 7, 2024, at 12 p.m. ET?to offer a "live look-in" at a public forum on hydrogen. These new innovative forums provide a template for helping communities engage in effective and beneficial discussions about clean hydrogen.
Led by Dr. Emily Loker, HFTO's workforce and community engagement lead, with support from other HFTO colleagues, this session will begin with a brief introduction to hydrogen technologies and instructions for how to engage with the forum. Selected individuals who have indicated they would like to participate will then navigate through the three phases of the forum. The presentation will conclude with a debrief discussion.
Public forums are an increasingly important tool to help communities determine their energy future, providing vital opportunities to increase understanding of (1) the benefits and challenges of hydrogen, and (2) the role and importance of community benefits plans, which provide federally funded projects a means to demonstrate how their projects will enhance local communities.?To learn more, view the recording of HFTO's September H2IQ Hour webinar focused on forum-facilitated community benefits.
