- 180MW steam turbine and generator, one of each, to be supplied for power plant
- Starting from 2025, new orders for 4+ units of combined cycle steam turbines and generators forecast to be won yearly

Doosan Enerbility announced on December 24th that it had signed an agreement with Hyundai Engineering to supply the components for the Namyangju Combined Heat and Power(CHP) Plant.

The construction of the Namyangju CHP Plant, which is to take place in Jingeon-eup of Gyeonggi Province’s Namyangju city, is being pursued to supply electricity and district heating to the new city of Wangsuk. The construction is scheduled to start in May 2025 and will be completed by June 2028.

With the signing of this agreement, Doosan will be supplying a 180MW steam turbine and generator, one of each, for deployment by the end of 2026. The contract is valued to be approximately KRW 61 billion.

”Over the past three years, we have won a number of new orders for steam turbines and generators, six of each actually, all of which are to be deployed at domestic combined cycle power plants, thereby proving the excellence of our technology and reliability,” said Seungwoo Sohn, CEO of Doosan Enerbility’s Power Services Business Group. “Starting from next year, as we expect to win four or more new orders every year for such combined cycle power plant equipment, we will do our best to increase our order intake even more going forward.”

According to South Korea’s 11th Basic Plan for Long-Term Electricity Supply and Demand, 28 coal-fired power plants that are scheduled for decommissioning will be converted to LNG-fueled power plants, while coal-fired power plants which have a lifetime ending during the period of 2037 to 2038 will be replaced by carbon-free energy, such as pumped-storage power and hydrogen energy.
