X-ELIO, a global leader in the renewable energy sector, and the Net Zero Consortium for Buyers (NZCB) have announced the signing of six virtual power purchase agreements (PPAs) for a combined total capacity of 172 MW in the United States. The consortium includes major companies such as Cisco Systems, Biogen, IDEXX Laboratories, and Waters Corporation. This milestone has been achieved through the mediation of Sustainability Roundtable, a pioneering organization in corporate sustainability.
The energy for these 12-year arrangements will be sourced from X-ELIO's Star Dairy and Rosebud projects in Texas. Under this partnership, these projects are expected to supply an estimated 367,000 MWh annually, with operations set to begin in 2027.
Six PPAs to achieve NZCB's sustainability goals
Cisco Systems, Biogen, IDEXX Laboratories, and Waters Corporation have signed multiple PPAs with X-ELIO, further reinforcing their commitment to sustainability. Cisco's two agreements support its goal of achieving net-zero emissions across its value chain by 2040. Biogen, which has operated on 100% renewable energy since 2014, takes another step in its sustainability leadership with two PPAs. IDEXX Laboratories, aiming for 100% renewable electricity by 2030, has secured a 20 MW deal. And Waters Corporation, through a 17 MW PPA, moves forward in its strategy for more sustainable operations.
Nicholas Pentreath, X-ELIO's CEO Deputy, stated: "Today, once again, we announce another key milestone of partnership for the company. We are honored to be the selected and trusted partner to bring supply and price certainty to energy-intensive sectors with ambitious ESG and net zero targets, such as the technological, health, and pharmaceutical industries."
Mirko Molinari, X-ELIO's Chief Commercial Officer, informed: "X-ELIO is proud to continue advancing its commercial strategy alongside companies that share our core values and principles. Through tailor-made sustainable solutions, we establish mutually beneficial relationships that not only promote a greener future but also support the business growth of our partners."
Kerri Neary, Country Manager for X-ELIO in the United States, stated: "X-ELIO continues to show our commitment and capability in providing cost-competitive clean energy throughout the United States. With a pipeline of over 5 GW of solar and storage, we are ready to lead the energy transition and meet the growing demand for renewable energy throughout the Country."
