The Dubai Natural Gas Company Limited (DUGAS) contracted Tebodin for the detailed design of the expansion of the Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether (MTBE) plant. The consulting and engineering firm also received a contract for the preparation of the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) tender package for the additional butane storage facility. Tebodin was also contracted to prepare the Environmental Impact Assessment report for the additional butane storage facility. This multidisciplinary project will involve approximately 42,000 man hours.

In line with their growth program, DUGAS will undertake the expansion of their MTBE plant to increase its production capacity from 500,000 to 675,000 MTA. Also the construction of additional butane/propane storage tanks and associated dedicated refrigeration system using vapor recovery compression for re-liquefaction has been scheduled.

DUGAS owns and operates a gas processing facility and MTBE at its plant in Jebel Ali, Dubai. MBTE is an additive for unleaded gasoline that helps raise the octane level of gasoline by supplying additional oxygen during combustion, allowing cleaner and more complete burning and thereby reducing emissions.

The three projects will be carried out from Tebodin’s office in Dubai. For many years, Tebodin has been providing engineering support to DUGAS in their various projects. Tebodin’s operation in Dubai is active since 1981 and focuses on Oil & Gas, Industrial and Infrastructure markets.
