Major project was inaugurated in southern province of Khuzestan. Masjed Soleyman Gas Refinery with daily capacity of one billion cubic meters of sweet gas and 1,000 bpd condensate came on stream by the joint efforts of Iranian contractors and advisors, deputy oil minister and managing director of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) told IRNA.
“The refinery is to supply the city of Masjed Soleyman, where the first oil well was drilled, with sweet gas for local and household use to prevent the pollution caused by the usage of kerosene,” Seyyed Reza Kasaiizadeh added, anticipating that the capital return of this Rls.230b ($26m) project is estimated at two years.
The plant holds two identical refining units fed by a 12-inch pipeline at 25 km from the ‘kerosene field’ as 12-km transfer line offers the condensate to the market. Electricity and water supply is provided by the city and 60% of the equipment has been built domestically.
