Siemens Energy has been awarded a long-term agreement to perform service and maintenance for three Siemens (SGT6-5000F) gas turbines that will be installed at Shell Canada’s Carmon Creek in situ project currently under construction in northern Alberta. The Carmon Creek project, located on Shell’s Peace River heavy oil leases, is expected to produce about 80,000 barrels of bitumen per day using steam recovery methods. The project will be constructed in two phases of 40,000 barrels per day.

Siemens’ advanced gas turbine technology provides the high availability, reliability and performance demands needed by Shell. In addition to supplying the gas turbines, Siemens will also provide service and maintenance over an initial period of 17 years to help ensure the long-term optimum performance of the advanced F-class gas turbines.
