Lundin Petroleum AB, through its wholly owned subsidiary Lundin Norway AS, is pleased to announce that drilling of exploration well 6405/12-1 in PL584 has commenced.
The well will investigate the hydrocarbon potential of the Lindarormen prospect in PL584, located 150 km northwest of Kristiansund on the Norwegian coast and approximately 80 km northeast of the Ormen Lange Field.
The main objective of well 6405/12-1 is to test the reservoir properties and hydrocarbon potential of Paleocene sandstones in the R?s Basin. Lundin Petroleum estimates the Lindarormen prospect to have the potential to contain unrisked, gross prospective resources of 194 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe).
The planned total depth is 3,280 metres below mean sea level and the well will be drilled using the semisubmersible drilling unit Bredford Dolphin. Drilling is expected to take approximately 60 days.
Lundin Norway is the operator and has a 60 percent working interest in PL584. Bayerngas Norge is partner
with 40 percent working interest.
