The DEME group is confirming its strong interest in the German market and will be concentrating all its German activities in Bremen.
For almost 50 years, different companies of the DEME Group have been active in Germany in maintenance dredging projects and marine engineering activities. DEME’s GeoSea has been involved in the installation of eight German offshore wind farms.
DEME is currently installing the foundations for the Gode Wind offshore wind farms for the account of DONG Energy. The Gode Wind offshore wind farms are located in the German Bight, 45 km from the shore.
Moreover, in October 2014, GeoSea announced the take-over of the offshore assets of HOCHTIEF.
Very recently, at the end of March, DEME entered into a partnership with Nordsee Offshore MEG I GmbH to co-develop the MEG I offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The group now confirms it will concentrate all its German activities at the Bremen headquarters. This operation has already started with the move of the Baltic 2 Project Team from Rostock to Bremen. DEME will have up to 100 people in the Bremen offices as from the next months.
The Senator for Economics, Labour and Ports, Martin Gunthner welcomes the commitment of the DEME Group in Bremen: "The intensive discussions which we have had in recent weeks, have come to a successful conclusion. The settlement of DEME proves that the state of Bremen is an ideal place for the offshore industry. For the development of our economy offshore remains of great importance. For this, the commitment of this strong company makes an important contribution. "
