Petrobras will invest R $ 168 million in the scheduled maintenance stop of the Duque de Caxias Refinery (Reduc), which starts on Monday, August 12, and is expected to last 31 days. This is a routine procedure at the company's industrial facilities and follows regulatory and international safety standards.
The amount of the investment will be used to maintain and purchase equipment for the Lubricant production unit processing units. In addition to the employees involved in the shutdown, approximately 2400 temporary jobs will be generated by the companies hired for the service. The process of selecting workers is the sole responsibility of these companies, which worked with the National Employment System (Sine) to recruit labor in the region.
The maintenance shutdown aims to maintain operational safety by ensuring the safety of workers, facilities and surrounding communities, meeting Ministry of Labor standards (equipment integrity) and re-establishing operational capabilities, as well as promoting improvements in the industrial process.
Reduc has the capacity to process 38 million liters of oil daily. Currently, the refinery is responsible for about 80% of the national production of lubricants. Maintaining the lubricant production set will not affect the supply of these products to the market.
