Twenty-one leaders from around the country have been selected by the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to participate in the 2023 Executive Energy Leadership program (Energy Execs). The program curriculum is designed to assist nontechnical decision makers from government, corporate, nonprofit, and urban/rural communities as they work to implement renewable energy policies in their respective communities.
The four-month program begins in this month and provides these leaders with an opportunity to learn about advanced energy technologies and analytical tools directly from NREL’s most prominent researchers, engineers, and professionals. NREL is also leading an energy transition in which solutions are inclusively designed and benefits are equitably distributed. Participants will learn how NREL is working with thousands of communities nationally and around the world, many of which have been historically underserved in terms of access to clean energy or its benefits. Energy Execs participants will tour NREL campuses in Boulder and Golden, Colorado, to see the latest advances within the advanced energy space.
Demonstrations of what the participants have learned will take place at the conclusion of the program. Participants will work in groups and present a feasible energy project that is relevant to their organization or community.
Since its inception in 2007, over 350 representatives of industry, government, and nonprofit organizations have completed the Energy Execs program.
