We have recently enabled several enhancements to the land surrounding Båthusströmmen hydropower plant located along the banks of the Dalälven river. As a conscientious community member and business that owns c.600 acres of rural land around Sweden, we strive to be good stewards of the land and give back to the local community when possible.
Creating a community space
The recent improvements focused on a beach adjacent to the plant that provided access to the river powering our hydro plant. We invested funds to develop this area into a recreational space for community members to enjoy.
Developments include:
Construction of a large wooden deck platform with an attached coffee table overlooking the river. This provides an ideal spot for people to relax next to the river and enjoy the views
Installation of a high-quality BBQ area with commercial grade stainless steel grills. This enables people to hold barbecues and cookouts by the river
Seeding of lush grass in previously barren areas of the land, increasing the usable green space
Creation of designated parking spots for boats, along with a new wide gravel ramp directly into the river, facilitating easy launching of small watercraft

Creating positive change and relationships
The recreational area enhances community members’ quality of life, while also driving increased goodwill and positive relationships between Downing and neighbourhoods near the plant. This demonstrates a real-world example of our commitment to generating renewable energy, environmental stewardship and corporate social responsibility.
