Iraq Invites Sonangol Company to Resume Work at Retaken Oil Fields

Mr. Jabbar A. Allibi the minister of oil invited Sonangol Angolan Company to resume their work in developing Kayara & Najma oil fields in Nineveh governorate.

Mr. Allibi met with the CEO of Sonangol Company MR. Edison Santos and demanded them to resume the work in Kayara & Najma within a period until the end of February. He said also that it is necessary to develop these two fields after liberating them from the control of the terrorist gangs of ISIS.

Mr. Allibi said also that the ministry of oil is working on to provide the necessary facilitations for the oil companies whom are working in Iraq and solve all the obstacles and difficulties which might face their work and confirmed that the company should resume their work in the two fields to provide the appropriate environment to work in there after the stability of the security situation. He said also that the technical & engineering teams of the north oil company (NOC) and the supporting authorities could control over most of the wells which was sabotaged and burnt by the terrorist gangs and the work is going on to rehabilitate the oil facilities, the refinery and the power station in Kayara power station.

Mr. Santos said that his company is ready to work in the two fields until the achievement of the determined goals. It is worthy to mention that Sonangol Company was awarded with the rehabilitation of the Kayara & Najma fields within the petroleum licensing rounds and pulled out from the work after the tumbling of the security situation in Nineveh.
