Rejlers' experts have been commissioned by Svenska kraftnät to guide the authority in various power cable projects in the transmission network. The assignment, which covers several areas of expertise, extends until 2025 with an option to extend for another two years.
Svenska kraftnät is in an expansive phase and is facing a comprehensive renewal of the Swedish transmission grid to meet society's high demands for secure electricity supply. Issues related to power cables are becoming increasingly important and the need for power cable engineers is therefore great.
Through a renewed competitive tendering process, Rejlers has been commissioned to provide power cable engineers with different skills orientations to support Svenska kraftnät in both existing and new projects.
Rejlers will deliver expertise in several areas such as support in design, thermal calculations, geotechnics, cable damage, splicing, installation and testing.
"The first assignment concerns Sydvästlänken (the Southwest Link) and the ground-based connection for high-voltage direct current (HVDC) and the consequences of reduced groundwater levels linked to bridge construction. Furthermore, we will handle issues such as when other line owners want to cross parallel to Svenska Kraftnät's cables. This requires expertise in several areas, and we benefit directly from the breadth Rejlers has in various areas of technology," says Victor Jidell, Business Unit Manager at Rejlers' Energy division.
