Wood Group Mustang has secured multiple contracts in the North Sea over the past 12 months worth more than $130 million and is currently recruiting more than 100 personnel in its Woking, London office.
As part of the company’s framework contract with Statoil awarded in 2011 to deliver multi-discipline engineering for their onshore and offshore facilities worldwide, Wood Group Mustang has carried out a range of projects including concept feasibility, concept selection, concept definition, FEED phases and detailed engineering for all types of facilities. Wood Group Mustang’s Woking operations has been able to draw on the company’s extensive global expertise.
Wood Group companies have delivered work to Statoil on several projects in locations including Norway, Canada, Brazil and the Gulf of Mexico, as well as for the Sheringham Shoal offshore wind farm in the U.K.
Recently, Wood Group Mustang was awarded two multimillion-dollar engineering design contracts in the Norwegian Sector. One of these contracts is for the topsides detailed engineering and design of an offshore oil and gas production facility operated by Det Norske in the Ivar Aasen field announced in February. The contract was awarded to Wood Group Mustang by SMOE, the Singapore-based engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the project.
The facility will be located in 112 meters (367 feet) of water. The topsides is scheduled to have an approximate dry weight of 13,700 tons, including flare and 70-bed living quarters. This significant award will result in peak staff of approximately 200 people, and the project is being performed in the Woking and Kuala Lumpur offices of Wood Group Mustang, with Woking -more- taking the lead role.
The Woking office is also completing front-end engineering design of a jacket and topsides for a wellhead platform in the Norwegian Sector of the North Sea for a major energy client. Wood Group Mustang’s contract includes management of the interface with related brownfield, pipeline and automation system contractors.
